Burnout is thought to occur when a mismatch is present between the nature of the job and the person doing the job. a common indication of this mismatch is work overload, which sometimes involves a worker who survives a round of layoffs, but after the layoffs the worker finds that he or she is doing too much with too few resources.. Before burnout gets to the point of causing a severe mental or and physical health crisis, it will affect how you do your job. you may call out sick or come to work late frequently. when you are at work, you may find yourself doing the bare minimum, in other words, "mailing it in.". I left a stressful job on the verge of burnout and didn’t know it was that bad until after i saw the work in front of me in this new job and i can’t do it. i am toast. i am seeking professional help but i don’t think my new employer will understand and i don’t know how to handle this..
